New 37,000-square-foot thermal destination and 70-room hotel will bring Everwild to the heart of the Elk Valley in 2027.
FERNIE, B.C. – June 22, 2026 – Everwild has officially broken ground on its newest thermal destination in Fernie, marking another major milestone in the Canadian wellness and hospitality brand’s continued growth across Western Canada.
Located along the Elk River, Everwild Fernie will feature approximately 37,000 square feet of spa space, a 70-room hotel and on-site restaurant, creating a new place to experience heat, cold, rest, sauna rituals, food and gathering in one of British Columbia’s best-known mountain communities.
“Fernie has such a strong sense of place and community, and that was a big part of what drew us here,” said Sky Mitchell, Founder and CEO of Everwild. “People come to Fernie to ski, bike, hike and spend time outside. Everwild will add something different to that rhythm, a place to warm up, slow down, gather and feel better after a day in the mountains.”
A New Year-Round Experience for Fernie
Designed with Fernie’s four-season mountain culture in mind, the property will include hot and cold pools, an event sauna, steam room, treatment spaces and areas for rest, surrounded by the mountains of the Elk Valley.
Everwild Fernie is expected to welcome approximately 55,000 visitors annually, adding a significant new year-round tourism experience to the Elk Valley while creating new employment and economic opportunities in the community.
The June 22 groundbreaking brought together Everwild and Basecamp Resorts team members, project partners, local tourism and business leaders and community representatives to mark the beginning of construction.
“Fernie is already an incredible year-round destination,” said Mitchell. “Our goal is to create something that belongs here and gives both visitors and locals another reason to spend time in this community throughout the year.”
Everwild Continues to Grow
Fernie follows the opening of Everwild Canmore in November 2025 and is part of the brand’s next phase of growth across Western Canada. New Everwild destinations are also underway in Banff and Harmony, Alberta.
Each Everwild is shaped by its surroundings, bringing together thermal experiences, sauna culture, programming, food and hospitality in a way that reflects the place and community around it.
Everwild Fernie is currently expected to open in summer 2027.
