Rather than starting from scratch, the design team looked inward—at the building’s existing spaces, the surrounding landscape, and the town’s history—to shape something that feels both intentional and deeply connected to place.
Rooted in Place
Canmore’s identity is shaped by its geography and its past. Long before it became a mountain destination, it was a coal mining town, with layers of history beneath its surface. That story became a quiet but powerful influence on the spa’s design.
By leaning into the building’s lower-level location, the Everwild team transformed what could have been a limitation into a defining feature. The journey into the spa becomes part of the experience. Subtle, grounding, and slightly mysterious, setting the tone before guests even begin their treatments.
Designing for Emotion
The spa was designed to feel immersive. Soft lighting, tactile materials, and carefully considered textures work together to create a sense of comfort and ease. The atmosphere is calm, but not static, there’s an energy to the space that encourages guests to be present and engaged.
This approach to design goes beyond aesthetics. It’s about how people move through a space, how it affects their mood, and how it supports a sense of confidence and relaxation from the moment they arrive.
